Smiling Oak Dentistry is growing its clientele one smile at a time, through adhering to high standards of quality care. Dr. Jeff Gardner, Dr. Jessica Peele and their team will make your teeth look picture perfect, using the latest technologies and current techniques. They often attribute this “hollywood” perfection to one commonly requested procedure – dental veneers. Among their many services, “veneers are widely popular for the instant and lasting improvement they make,” said Dr. Gardner.

There are many reasons patients turn to veneers.

“The most common issues they can correct are stained or discolored teeth, worn down teeth, teeth that are misaligned or too short and teeth with gaps or cracks,” Dr. Gardner said.

Smiling Oak uses porcelain instead of the traditional resin to make their veneers because resin is more likely to crack over time and does not reflect light as well as porcelain. Porcelain reflects light in the same way a natural tooth would.

The procedure involves several steps. This treatment is permanent, and not everyone qualifies as a good candidate. Either Dr. Gardner or Dr. Peele will assess whether veneers are the right option for you. If so, the first step is to examine your oral health and determine your desired outcome. Next, they will prepare the tooth to receive the veneer by removing a small amount of enamel. Without this step, the new smile would appear bulky. The amount of enamel removed is so small that no anesthesia is needed, unless the patient requests it.

After removing the appropriate amount of enamel, they will make impressions of the newly filed tooth. These are sent to a laboratory that designs the custom veneers. While the patient is waiting for the new veneers, which can take two to three weeks, they are fitted with a temporary set of tooth-shaped shells to keep their teeth protected. The patient will come in to have this set of temporary teeth removed when the new veneers arrive. After a thorough inspection of the new “teeth,” they will cement them to the surface of the tooth and make any necessary final adjustments.

Match With These Providers

“The result is a beautifully flawless new smile,” said Dr. Gardner. Your dentist will ensure that you fully understand how to care for your new veneers, which are permanent but still susceptible to damage. They will explain how proper oral hygiene is crucial because the shells can still experience decay like regular teeth. To prevent cracking or chipping, they suggest to not bite your nails or other hard objects such as ice or pencils.

Dr. Gardner and Dr. Peele have ample experience in creating beautiful new smiles with porcelain veneers. Patients of Smiling Oak Dentistry receive personalized attention and can expect flawless results. Because this cosmetic procedure is irreversible, they take extra care to make sure your treatment plan is completely thought out and all of your individual needs are met.

Dr. Gardner is joined by Dr. Peele, who is skilled in the application of veneers, on Thursdays and Fridays. If you have ever considered veneers to drastically improve the look of your smile, call Smiling Oak Dentistry to see if they are right for you.
