Franke at Seaside is a retirement community with roots deeply planted in Carolina soil. Founded in 1892, Franke, as it is fondly referred to by locals, has a long history of providing care and adding enjoyment to the life of retirees by offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehab. Moreover, existing Franke residents enjoy priority access to these levels of care, which is no small benefit when you consider that Franke has one of the only Medicare-certified skilled nursing facilities in the Mount Pleasant area, where their beautiful 44-acre campus is located.
Always looking forward, the team at Franke at Seaside has evolved with the times. As our seniors are living longer, healthier and more vibrant lives, retirement and senior living centers such as Franke at Seaside have had a complete overhaul when it comes to the image they project and the amenities they provide.
“This is not your father’s Oldsmobile,” laughed DeAnne Reed Vane, director of marketing for the independent Active Lifestyle Community, which is easily the largest resident population on the campus.
Franke at Seaside understands that the face of “senior living” has changed dramatically over the years. Families are moving in at younger ages and consider life at Franke a new and exciting phase of their lives, only without all the cooking, maintenance and chores. Even better, property taxes and property insurance are not required since Franke maintains ownership of the residences.
“Many of our independent living residents have lived here 20-plus years,” said Vane. “This is a time to travel, get into shape, pick up a new hobby – or refine an old one- and enjoy the life you’ve worked so hard to attain.”
Franke at Seaside provides engaging social activities and outings at all levels of care. In independent living, they host social events such as wine tastings, black-tie affairs and fundraisers. Concerts, “Franke University” courses, guest lectures, art classes and other resident-driven life enrichment activities create a rich, intellectually-stimulating environment. In fact, many Franke residents teach classes due to their professional expertise in certain subjects.
There are many ways to experience Franke at Seaside for yourself. Schedule a general tour of the entire campus or for a specific level of care, book a vacation to stay in one of their guest suites, or schedule a time to come as a guest for happy hour or dinner with existing residents who are “the best advocates for making a move to Franke,” said Vane.
“Franke residents are excited about where they live and want others to experience it, too. Between that and the wonderful Franke staff, you are in for a great overall experience. Come see us!”
