When you reach retirement age, one of the best things you can do for your health is not to simply continue your current quality of life but to improve it. There are enormous health benefits – both mental and physical – when we are socially, physically and mentally active. Wellmore of Daniel Island embraces that theory for its members by incorporating a wellness philosophy throughout the community.

“If you’ve done much research on assisted living communities, you’ll note that a lot of competitors boast about their wellness and dining programs. But if you tour a typical community, it can be surprising to learn that what is marketed as a wellness or a dining program is really just bingo and a dining room,” Wellmore Executive Director Ashley Smalls explained. “At Wellmore, we offer a lifestyle that is designed to help our members maintain important relationships with friends and family as they age. We figure that if their life is enhanced by the choice to move to Wellmore, they will be happier and you will enjoy visiting them often. Nothing is more important to our residents’ health and happiness than staying in regular, positive contact with their closest friends and family.”

The premier luxury retirement community is located adjacent to the Daniel Island Club, nestled among the trees and overlooking Beresford Creek. It’s scheduled to open early this year.

Through award-winning wellness programs, restaurant-style dining and endless social opportunities, members will enjoy resort-like amenities while receiving the care they need. The Wellmore clubhouse will be central to all living options and will be home to an array of amenities, including a fine-dining restaurant managed by a dining services director and executive chef, an activity room, study, café/bar, salon and spa and onsite rehab services.

Of course, wellness is an essential component at Wellmore, a three-time winner of the Assisted Living Federation of America Best of the Best Award for Wellness Programs. The multi-million-dollar wellness center will include a heated therapy pool, stationary exercise equipment, weight room and a classroom/ aerobic space. The wide range of classes and monthly calendars will be managed by a full-time wellness director. All members also have access to a continuum of care that includes assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehab.

Peace of mind comes with residing at Wellmore. All living options offer maintenance-free living, which includes full maintenance and repair, housekeeping, deep cleaning, security, transportation services and a dining program. With 24-hour security, concierge and staff, your loved ones are safe and secure.

Often, retirement communities have hidden fees and confusing pricing options, but Wellmore’s options are straightforward – pay one price based on the apartment you select. This closely aligns with their commitment to caring for loved ones because caregivers are focused on providing care rather than calculating it.

“At Wellmore, our number one goal is for members to live longer, healthier and happier lives,” said Smalls. “We believe anyone, at any age, in any condition can improve their quality of life. Wellmore is here to help them do that throughout every aspect of our community.”

Wellmore of Daniel Island is the third Wellmore property. Wellmore of Lexington, South Carolina, opened in May 2017 and Wellmore of Tega Cay, South Carolina, opened in June 2015. The company is owned and operated by Maxwell Group Inc., based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Maxwell Group Inc. operates 13 senior living communities in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina and South Carolina.
