Please share advice you would give as a mentor to women new to the health field.
Women new to the health field should be relentless, stay organized and trust their analytical mind. Success isn’t about luck; it’s about persistence, careful planning and tackling challenges head-on. Step up, lead projects from start to finish and always look for ways to elevate patient care and streamline work flow. And don’t underestimate the power of being bilingual; it’s a true asset, letting you break down language barriers and make a real difference in patients’ lives.
How would you describe your journey to becoming the health leader you are today?
My journey has been one of determination, adaptation and continuous learning. Coming from Ecuador and starting in television production, it wasn’t easy to transition into health care leadership in the United States, but I relied on my persistence, organizational skills and analytical mind to succeed. I committed to gaining knowledge, certifications and hands-on experience. My proudest achievement has been leading the migration of our entire practice from one EHR system to another – a highly complex project I managed from start to finish. Another major accomplishment has been becoming the analytical manager in our practice, identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions that improve work flow and patient care. Perseverance, vision and the ability to guide teams effectively, with God’s guidance, have been the foundation of my success.
What routines and habits help you prepare for, or recover from, a day’s challenges?
Organization and planning are key. Each day, I review priorities, coordinate with managers and peers and stay up-to-date with compliance regulations and technology updates. To recover and recharge, I exercise four days a week, eat clean and healthy and focus on self-care, knowing that taking care of myself reflects how I show up in my life and work. Celebrating small victories – whether it’s a successful project, a smooth system implementation or an improved patient experience – keeps me energized and motivated. At the center of it all, I trust God, knowing He guides me and is in control of my success.
Tell us about one of your patients’ success stories.
One of the most meaningful moments in my career was helping a Spanish-speaking patient navigate a complex orthopedic procedure. I translated forms, interpreted during consultations and guided them through the process to ensure they fully understood their care plan. Seeing them recover, regain mobility and witnessing their gratitude for how smoothly the check-in system worked – a system I helped implement with my peers – was incredibly rewarding. Moments like these remind me of the real impact we can have on patients’ lives and why I am so passionate about this work.
