One hundred percent of Erin Straughan’s heart beats to serve. As the owner of Tidewater Pharmacy, it is no surprise that her mission is to keep the family-owned business as a place where people feel “heard and supported” and where “they can make informed, holistic decisions about their health.”
“Our patrons are like family,” she added. “They love coming in to learn more, not just to pick up a prescription.”
A nurse anesthetist at the Medical University of South Carolina with a specialty in pediatrics, Straughan graduated from the University of Cincinnati and found her “forever home” in Mount Pleasant where she enjoys “an amazing support network of friends and family.”
“You never know where life will take you,” she noted about her role as Tidewater’s owner. Yet she has no doubt that her 15-plus years in anesthesia and now as a full-time member of the Tidewater team enable her to lend a knowing hand to patrons who want help with long-term health management.
Though Straughan is thrilled that Tidewater has been voted one of the best pharmacies in the area, her ultimate lift are her four children, sons Wells and Whit and daughters Channing and Parks.
“My ‘why’ is always my children,” Straughan said. “I cherish being there for them and now showing them, especially my girls, how to jump into anything that scares you – how to be successful in business.”
