Kellye Palmer has discovered her true calling in senior living, where she brings comfort and solutions to residents and their families during significant transitions. Grateful for her more than a decade of experience in the corporate world, she found that it was her work in senior living that finally made her feel her cup was full.
Now, as the director of sales and marketing for Shem Creek Health Center at South Bay, Palmer applies her expertise to provide personalized support that makes a meaningful difference. The center, located on a 24-acre campus in Mount Pleasant, offers a full range of health care services.
“I find the most value in being a source of comfort for families and residents,” she said. “I offer them solutions to bring relief to their concerns and worries.”
Palmer sees herself as a trusted guide, helping families navigate new and sometimes confusing circumstances, whether
they need assisted living, memory care or respite care. The sigh of relief she hears from families and residents when they
realize everything will be OK reassures her that she has done her job.
“It is always worth it to work hard toward something that lifts up the people surrounding you,” Palmer said.
Women who prioritize others over themselves, many of whom she meets in the senior living field, inspire her, and she hopes to do the same for the next generation of women in health care. Palmer seeks and values support from her trusted peers, encouraging them to aim higher as they help her do the same.
“Most women have a natural ability to empathize, work hard and persevere through the challenges of life, and I am grateful to be surrounded by so many in my work,” she said.
