CHARLOTTE H. MARVIL, DDS
Dr. Charlotte Marvil is pleased to open her new oral surgery practice in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where she performs oral and maxillofacial surgery. Her Mount Pleasant office, readily accessible to the Charleston metropolitan area, is outfitted with a charming reception area, multiple surgery rooms, recovery rooms, as well as rooms for esthetic procedures and a variety of aesthetically enhancing techniques and products. The clinic is a state-of-the-art facility, fully equipped with the most up to date surgical equipment.
Dr. Marvil completed her four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in June of 2015. She fell in love with Charleston and its people soon after starting her training at MUSC, so her decision to stay in Charleston and open up a practice was an easy one. Charleston has become home for her and her six-year old son, Remy.
She began her training at MUSC after practicing general dentistry in the DC metropolitan area where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She also earned the honor of being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Marvil completed dental school early and was selected for a clerkship with the University of Maryland’s Advanced Education in Dentistry program, where she worked alongside recent graduates obtaining advanced training in general dentistry. She honed her skills as a general dentist and was selected to be a resident at the Baltimore VA Hospital General Practice Residency. At the VA Hospital she successfully performed a wide variety of minor oral surgery procedures and soon decided that oral surgery would be the area to focus her medical career. At the completion of her residency she practiced as a general dentist while applying to and eventually selecting MUSC’s oral surgery program. Dr. Marvil obtained her undergraduate degree in biology from the George Washington University in 2003. She went on to pursue research for the influenza vaccine and was chosen to be a Post-baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. While at NIH she shadowed local dentists and oral surgeons and realized that this area of medicine would be the ideal profession for her.
Dr. Marvil, originally a Virginia native, is now proud to call Charleston her home. She grew-up with three older brothers who influenced her love of nature and consequently science. In her free time Dr. Marvil spends time with her son doing anything that involves being outdoors.
